Heading West - Meet the Pioneers
May 26 - 27

This year marks the 175th anniversary of the Oregon Trail!  You can see interpreters re-create the excitement of preparing for the 5 month journey to Oregon in 1843.  Heading West will be held from May 26 - 27, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., at the National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center: 22267 OR Highway 86 in Baker City.  For more, visit www.trailtenders.org.

Hosted by Oregon State University, the annual Peace Breakfast, held on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, celebrates the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. while honoring members of the Oregon State community who carry his message and work forward in the present.  The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Keynote Address will follow the Peace Breakfast at 11:00 a.m. in the La Sells Stewart Center.  This year’s Keynote Speaker is Sybrina Fulton, mother of Trayvon Martin, author and advocate for social justice.  Reviving an Oregon State tradition, the Keynote Address will be followed by a Peace March at 12:30 p.m. from the La Sells Stewart Center to the Student Experience Center Plaza...More

Eagle Cap Extreme
January 23 - 26

This is the West's only Iditarod and Yukon Quest Qualifier.  The Eagle Cap Extreme runs through the rugged Wallowa Mountains in Northeastern Oregon.  It has been described as challenging, fun and drop-dea beautiful by participants alike.  There will be several race distances: 20, 31, 100 and 200 miles.  You're encouraged to arrive early and witness how excited the dogs get when they do what they love: RACE!...More 

The Joriad North American Truffle Dog Championship
Thursday, January 24

Watch and experience some of the world’s most talented truffle dogs as they compete in the 5th annual Joriad Truffle Dog Championship. The Joriad™ begins in the morning with a series of qualifying events where spectators can cheer-on the teams as they race to search for hidden truffle-scented targets. Finalists are announced at the end of the morning’s qualifying events.  The morning’s finalists will advance to the Joriad™ Field Trial the afternoon of the 24th for an authentic head-to-head and nose-to-ground action in the wild where nature alone determines location, variety, and quantity of rare Oregon truffles...More

Clark College Jazz Festival

(Southwest Washington)

As rich as the heritage of Clark College itself, the Clark College Jazz Festival has been host to one of the largest jazz festivals in Southwest Washington for over 50 years!  The festival attracts over 60 middle and high school instrumental jazz ensembles for the three day competitive festival.  During the day, groups perform to an esteemed panel of adjudicators made up of renowned jazz educators and performers for the privilege of returning to perform in the evening finals competition where they will be ranked for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.  On the final evening of the festival, one band from the entire festival is selected to receive the coveted Sweepstakes Trophy, a tradition which has been passed down since 1963.  The Clark College Jazz Festival now offers two middle school divisions!  It will be held from Jan. 24 - 26 at Clark College's Gaiser Student Center: in Vancouver.  To learn more, visit www.clark.edu.

The 14th annual Oregon Truffle Festival has four elegant and unique weekend experiences to offer: The Epicurious, The Gourmand, The Truffle Growers All-In Adventure, and The Urban Forager.
