Wochenmarkt
May 23 - September 5

The market will be in the tradition of the German weekly markets that feature locally grown produce and farm based products. The goal of the market is for local farmers to sell their wares direct and close to home and to encourage the citizens of Mt. Angel to live a healthier lifestyle by eating more fresh, local, affordable produce. Activities will be provided for the kinder (children) by the Mt. Angel Library and local musicians will be playing in the bandstand.  Wochenmarkt is from June 6 - Sept. 5 at Church and Charles St. in the City of Mount Angel.  For details, go online to www.ci.mt-angel.or.us.

Oregon Zoo Summer Concerts 
June 14 - September 7

In 1979, the Oregon Zoo became the first in America to host a summer concert series.  This year, Oregon’s “wildest” outdoor concert series brings you world-class artists for a night of music and nature.  It wouldn’t be summer in Oregon without an evening of great music at the zoo!  Performances are from June 14 - Sept. 7 at 4001 SW. Original Practice Shakespeare Festival
July 5 - August 25

Hosted by First Folio, they will be performing Shakespearean plays where the cues an actor needs to perform his or her role without rehearsal.  This allows the truest reaction to the story as it progresses.  The performers use the same techniques as they did in Shakespeare's own time, which means limited rehearsal; an onstage prompter; fast pace, energetic acting; and lots of audience interaction.  This lends a much more immediate, organic and improvisational feel to the performances.  The Original Practic Shakespeare Festival will be held from July 5 - Aug. 25 at various parks within the Portland metro area.  To learn more, visit www.opsfest.org.

NW Natural Street of Dreams
July 27 - August 25

This year's new location is Stafford Meadows, the first neighborhood to be developed at Frog Pond West to showcase luxury homes, resented by the Home Builders of Metro Portland.  Each year, NW Street of Dreams partners with home builders to construct several new homes that illustrate the latest trends in home design, technology, energy-efficiency and more.  It will be held from July 27 - Aug. 25.  Times are from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m.  Go to www.streetofdreamspdx.com.

Feathering the Hat - The Art of Hat Fashion Exhibit 
August 1 - 30

In the late 1800s and early 1900s the great age of the milliner was born.  Milliners know that a hat is part sculpture, part architecture, part trimming, and part craftsmanship.  A hat is wearable art.  Come and learn more about this art form in the Capitol Galleria during the month of August.  This exhibit comes to us courtesy of The National Hat Museum in Portland and is sponsored by the Oregon State Capitol Foundation. The exhibit is free and open to the public during normal building hours, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  For more, visit their Facebook page.

Old Time Fiddlers Jamboree
August 15 - 18

The Oregon Old Time Fiddlers District 5 hosts more than 100 musicians and enthusiastic audiences from across the Pacific Northwest.  Fiddlers, guitars, banjos and mandolins play Country, Cajun, Swing, Bluegrass, Folk, Waltzes and old time tunes.  Participate in an open jam session – they’re offered all day long – and concerts at the Grange Hall daily at 6 p.m.  Admission by donation.  The jamboree is from Aug. 15 - 18 at the corner of 7th St. and Broadway Ave. in Winchester Bay.  To learn more, call (541) 572-2741.

Aumsville Corn Festival
August 17 - 18

This year's theme is "New Beginnings to Better EARS Ahead".  Head over to the Aumsville Corn Festival.  There's lots of family fun with a parade, Corn Eating Contest, corn sales, live entertainment, car show, and beer garden.  It will be held from Aug. 17 - 18 at Porter-Boone Park: 1105 Main St. in Aumsville.  Visit www.aumsville.us. 

Harvest Fest
August 17 - 18

Harvest Fest 2019 happens August 17 - 18, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Yamhill Valley Heritage Center Museum, located at 11275 SW. Durham Lane in McMinnville, Oregon.  Witness the harvesting of our oat crop using vintage farm equipment, horses and mules.  The entire Yamhill Valley Heritage Center campus will come alive with many activities.  Vendors will be on hand with their wares.  Historical displays and demonstrations will be available for viewing including the Sawmill, Blacksmith Shop.  Also view the ongoing restoration of our Peerless Steam Tractor Engine.  The Harvest Café will be open with a wonderful assortment of food.  Stagecoach rides will be available.  Tractor Parade each day at 1 p.m.  Live music is scheduled throughout the day and plan on visiting the hand’s on Pioneer Kids’ activities and pedal tractors that are sure to please.  Mark your calendars today and Don’t miss it!  Go online to yamhillcountyhistory.org/harvest-fest-2019 and visit their Facebook page. 

Mount Hood Huckleberry Festival & Barlow Trail Days
August 17 - 18

1840’s Oregon Trail emigrant Samuel Welch founded the Village of Welches in the western foothills of Mount Hood in 1880.  By 1890 he had modified his two-story farmhouse at the Welch Ranch into a hotel to go along with the campground he had built two years earlier.  To celebrate, he decided to hold an annual festival to celebrate  the birth of tourism on this Mountain that the Native Americans called “Wy’East”.  This pioneer celebration survived up until the realities of the Great Depression in the 1930’s forced it to come to an abrupt halt.  Then, 35 years ago, the Cascade Geographic Society revived it and started out with a table in a parking lot trying to get people to remember this Mountain’s great heritage.  Today, we are celebrating our Thirty-Second Anniversary.  You can enjoy a watermelon launch; delicious berry jams; Native American salmon bake, Native American storytelling, music, "Huckleberry Ceremony" and much, much more.  It will be held from Aug. 17 - 18 at 73341 East U.S. Highway 26 in the historic Village of Rhododendron.  This is a FREE event.  Visit cascadegeographicsociety.com.
