January 25 - February 17
"Hazardous Beauty" tells the story of two women-one black, one white both Baby Boomers-attending a memoir writing class at a Portland college. As writers, they have a license to critique each other's work, but because this is a class on memoir, what results is often a laser-like critique of each other's lives - sometimes painful, sometimes sad, sometimes joyful, and often very funny. And because they are here to write about their lives, not just talk about them, they are charged with "coherence," with making sense of love, work, art and aging. Performances by PassinArt are from Jan. 25 - Feb. 17 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at the Interstate Firehouse Cultural Center (IFCC): 5340 N. Interstate Ave. in Portland. For tickets, go to www.passinart.org.

What’s the buzz? The first musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice to be produced for the professional stage, Jesus Christ Superstar has wowed audiences for over 40 years. A timeless work, the rock opera is set against the backdrop of an extraordinary and universally-known series of events but seen, unusually, through the eyes of Judas Iscariot. Loosely based on the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, Superstar follows the last week of Jesus Christ’s life. The story, told entirely through song, explores the personal relationships and struggles between Jesus, Judas, Mary Magdalene, his disciples, his followers and the Roman Empire. Performances are until March 3 at Brunish Theatre within Antoinette Hatfield Hall: 1111 SW. Broadway in Portland. Visit www.portland5.com.
