Astoria Scandinavian Midsummer Festival
June 15 - 17

The Astoria Scandinavian Midsummer Festival has been a tradition on the North Coast of Oregon for over forty years.  The festival embodies the rich cultural that was transplanted to Astoria,Oregon region by Scandinavians.  In the Northwest they found the bounteous seas and forests as their native lands and the demand their skills at managing them.  During the three days of the festival over a dozen Scandinavian musical, dance, and theater groups are scheduled to entertain . Retail booths will offer handcrafts, Scandinavian import items, and traditional Scandinavian foods.  The festival will take place from June 15 - 17 in Astoria.  To learn more, go to travelastoria.com.

ZooLights

It wouldn’t be the holidays in Portland without a visit to ZooLights, the Oregon Zoo’s annual winter festival.  As you walk around the zoo, you’ll see a dazzling display of more than million and a half lights, and experience your zoo in a whole new light.  In addition to visiting elephants, penguins and other animals, you can ride the popular lighted train and enjoy dinner from a variety of food carts.  Little ones may want to ride the carousel, and Santa will be available at the events through December 23 for photos.  There will be local food carts, special warm drinks and live music as well...More
